BSBP 7: Reveal Day

My Bead Soup Blog Party partner, Christina, sent me a collection of earthy beads that are so my style.

I could have just strung these beautiful beads all up together and they would have made a lovely piece but I wanted to think outside the box. I spent a lot of time thinking about the Kazuri Bead Pendant, mulling over what to do with it. Then one day, while sitting at my usual table in front of the fireplace at one of my favorite coffee shops, I looked over and saw this artwork hanging on the wall.

And suddenly I had my inspiration for my necklace.

I added a Diane Hawkey "dream" bead that I picked up months ago even though I had no immediate plans to use it. I also strung on some black lava beads and cracked turquoise glass beads.

To the pendant I added a copper flower made by Kristi Bowman.

And the leaf toggle was much too pretty to stick in the back so I positioned it on the side of the necklace. (In retrospect, I wish I would have flipped the toggle 180 degrees.)

Since I still had a lot of beads leftover, I also made a simple bracelet.

Just like the "dream" bead, I've had this Sleepy Owl bead from Tree Wings Studio for a long time and finally found the perfect project for it!

I'm still working on one more project with the enameled beads that Christina made me. It will be a much more feminine piece in robins egg blue, pearl and peach.

Be sure to stop by my partner's blog to see what Christina made with the beads that I sent her!

Oh, the soup you received was indeed divine, but you took it to another level of awesome with your designs. I love that you showed us your inspiration. The necklace that sprang from it is gorgeous. I totally dig the turquoise with the black and mustard-y color. It works beautifully. And the bracelet with the sleepy owl is lovely as well. Fantastic job!!
