Winston - 6 years old

We just celebrated the big guy's birthday.

Hard to believe we picked him up from the shelter 6 months ago already.

I think he's happy with his new home.

What a goof!

Yarn Along: Candy Bridge

I'm linking up with Ginny for this week's Yarn Along.

Knitting: I haven't been knitting much lately because my hands hurt. I still need to finish my owl mitts along with 3 other projects I have going. In the meantime, I tried needle felting for the first time. I saw cute little felted candy corn on Etsy and a friend said, "We can make those!" and so she taught me. I am smitten.

My spinning friends and I are all spinning yarn to knit the same project. A spin along/knit along if you will. I have enough of the main color done so I washed and dried my yarn over the weekend on a nifty drying rack that I picked up at an antique store for $25. Score!

I plied together wool that was dyed green & purple with a light gray wool. I like how the yarn looks a smoky lilac color from a distance.

Reading: I just started The Bridge audiobook by Karen Kingsbury. Her audiobooks are some of my favorites and this one quickly grabbed my attention. I'm also reading Dodge the Bullet

Okay, just stay calm...

Christian and I have a vacation coming up and we plan on visiting 5 National Parks in Utah and Arizona. BUT... with the government shut down that won't be possible; the National Parks are closed. I'm trying to hope for the best (ie: the shut down ends before our trip) and not stress out about this but, to be honest, I'm a little bit worried. I've been planning this trip for months and each day has been carefully mapped out. Not to mention the hundreds of dollars already tied up in our reservations. I keep telling myself that we'll still have plenty of places to explore even if the National Parks are closed but I had it on my Life List to see the sun rise over the Grand Canyon. And I planned on doing that on my 32nd birthday. Let's hope those clowns in DC get their acts together. I have new places to explore! Okay, enough whining. Check out these shots from our trip in 2006. I can't wait to get back to the red rocks!
