Friday Wake-Up

Well, Hello!

Image
Christian and I just got back from a much-needed vacation. We spent 3 days at Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky, 4 days at Great Smoky Mountain National Park in Tennessee/North Carolina, and then a few days in Chapin, South Carolina visiting friends. We saw temps in the 80's - something we haven't experienced for 8 months! And everything was so lush. The leaves are just starting to pop here in Wisconsin but it was already summer in the south. I'm sure I'll post trip photos in the future, but for now we're just playing catch-up.

Yarn Along: Lattice Winter

Pattern: Cap Sleeve Lattice Top by Purl Soho (free on Rav)
Yarn: Kimmet Croft Softie in Natural Medium Grey and Kimmet Croft Fat Fairyhare in Natural

The setting is Moscow. A group of privileged kids (sons and daughters of some of the most powerful government officials in Russia) form a club called the Fatal Romantics. When an accident happens, the kids are taken from their homes and interrogated while their parents must keep quiet because no one can spea…

Winston - One Year in His Forever Home

Image
A little over a year ago we brought Winston home from the pound. It feels like he's been a part of our lives for so much longer. He was a bit pudgy when we got him yet he didn't eat for the first 3 weeks at home. Stress, I guess. He's trimmer now (about 10 pounds lighter) and he's so much more energetic and adventurous - no longer clinging to my side on walks but out exploring alongside his brother. Sometimes he snores like a lumberjack. I think that's my favorite thing about him.
