Finished Knit: Gale

I recently finished knitting Gale - kind of a cross between a poncho, tunic and sweater - and I love it! I had serious doubts it was going to fit well before I stitched the various pieces together. The back and front pieces seemed way too big. Then the neck opening looked enormous. But, I trusted the pattern and everything came together quite nicely, if I do say so myself! Even my husband said, "That's pretty awesome that you knit all of that." Agreed. This is only my second knit garment but it's my knitting goal for 2017 to knit more. They kind of freak me out a bit because you spend so much time working on them and what if they don't fit in the end? Right now I'm working on a vest that I'm knitting with my own handspun yarn. Now that's a double whammy on the time commitment!

The World is Not Your Garbage Can

Yesterday, Christian and I walked down our mile stretch of country road and picked up garbage. There was a LOT! It blows my mind that people just toss their trash out their car window and think that that's okay. I guess when you're drinking and driving (the majority of what we picked up was beer cans and bottles) you have to get rid of the evidence, right? Geez.
